(3) Three $500 College Scholarships

The KPOA provides six (6) high school scholarships annually to college bound seniors at both Monadnock Regional High School and Keene High School. In honor of two outstanding officers who passed away, we decided to name two scholarships in their honor. The Tim Nash Memorial Scholarship for $1,000.00 dollars is given to a Monadnock High School senior who is looking to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. The William K. Sargent Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 dollars is given to a Keene High School senior who is looking to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. Through the gracious donations of local businesses and residents we have been able to also provide several $500.00 dollar * general scholarships to Monadnock High School and Keene High School seniors. The scholarships are chosen by the administration at both High Schools. Students wishing to apply are encouraged to fill out a scholarship application with their school.

“Battle of the Badges” was created mainly as a way to raise money for the Keene High School Athletics Department. New Hampshire Police Association Pipes and Drums

"The New Hampshire Police Association Pipes & Drums" was formed following the tragic death of New Hampshire State Police Sgt. James Noyes. Sgt. Noyes was shot and killed in October 1994, during a stand off with an armed barricaded subject. After the Boston Police Gaelic Column played at the funeral, a search was initiated for potential players to start a New Hampshire Police Pipe Band. In December 1994 several dedicated individuals from various police departments got together for their first practice at Memorial High School in Manchester.

After 2 years of dedicated practice, the band made it's official debut in 1996, playing at the New Hampshire Police Memorial in Concord. The band has competed in Grade V competitions at both Hunter Mountain NY and Loon Mountain in New Hampshire.

Greater Keene Youth Soccer Programs

The sport of soccer provides a great opportunity for all kids, no matter how tall, short, skinny, plump, shy, smart, or whatever, to gain the benefits of being part of a team where anyone can be a super star on any given day.

All sports provide physical and other benefits for those involved in them. But soccer offers much more to help youths develop, interact with others, and just plain enjoy themselves, something kids should do, after all.

One of the greatest things about soccer is that any kid can kick a soccer ball and learn to do it well within a short period of time. There are no special talents required. If a boy or girl can run, he or she can do so with a soccer ball at his or her feet. Any kid can gain basic skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting a soccer ball with minimal time and effort expended. This means that any child that wants to play soccer can do so and be at a level of most of the players on the field.

The KPOA is proud to support activities such as soccer.

CAL RIPKEN Baseball

Keene is fortunate to have a great baseball program. The KPOA believes in this program and contribute towards the continued success of programs such as these. The Purpose of Keene Cal Ripken Baseball Association is to provide an opportunity for youngsters to learn the fundamentals of baseball and to facilitate their enjoyable participation in this activity so they may become happier and better people. Objectives include the development of positive social values and character traits, good citizenship, physical and mental well being, and a knowledge, appreciation and interest in baseball.
